This post is a WordPress how-to inspired by a question in my free private WordPress community on Facebook. WordPress user? Feel free to request membership!
Are you sick of setting a post to publish in the future at a specific time, only to realize that it never posted?! Most often you can count on this happening when you are leaving and have no access to fix it… or it happens sporadically…
I’ve read articles that flat-out blame the hosting, however I have a few blogs and the only one that I don’t have trouble ‘future publishing’ is this one. Go figure. And while there are likely a number of factors that contribute, there is one thing you can check pretty easily and then I’ll skip right to the fix, lol!
This question was submitted via my WordPress users group that you can feel free to request membership.
So, first, check that your timezone in >Dashboard >Settings >General
Scroll down to the Timezone setting and see if that is set correctly (i.e., not set to UTC #). If you can’t find your city, choose a city in the same timezone as you and–more importantly, follows the same daylight savings time that you do… it doesn’t matter if the city isn’t geographically that close to you. If you had that set incorrectly, you might have already solved your own problem!
If that isn’t the case, then you can use a plugin that comes highly recommended but is only available through www.GitHub.com. The plugin is called WP Missed Schedule and below is a video on how to download and install it.
Since I haven’t used it myself, you’ll want to create a free account on GitHub account and sign up on the plugin page for notifications of updates. It is likely that the developer will enable you to update the plugin automatically from inside WordPress, however just in case, sign up for updates.
