Preserve your Classic Editor: Do this now…
UPDATE: WordPress 5.0 unveils tomorrow, December 6th
Sounds ominous I know, but if your site is WordPress, you’ll want to take a moment and add the ‘Classic Editor’ plugin to your WordPress installation.*
Not sure what that means? No problem, I’ve made a short video on how to do this (below).
Suffice to say that unless Automattic changes its schedule, WordPress 5.0 will roll out on December 6th and your WordPress editor will completely change–and there is a chance that depending on the configuration of your site (core and plugins) that it can break your site. This plugin will override Gutenberg from taking over your editor and overriding (from what I’ve been told) your current editor configuration.
*I have already installed this on most of my currently installed managed hosted clients, just login if and just check that you are one of them. If it isn’t installed, open a ticket at www.websbyamy.com/support and give your login credentials so that I can access your site for updates like this.
Over the next few weeks, I’m going to be posting more tutorials about working with Gutenberg (and the video above shows how to install the Gutenberg plugin so that you can test it out and see if your site is compatible).
