What do I have to do to maintain a blog?
- You will need to do the posting.
- You will need to change the monthly specials and any sidebar ads yourself. Good news… you can cut and paste from my library of sidebar code for the latest specials and catalogs (for American & English speaking Canada) on my Demonstrator Support page (password will be provided). I also have video tutorials as well.
- You will need to upgrade your blog a few times a year. WordPress has a built-in ‘automatic’ upgrade option that upgrades you in seconds.
- You can call or email me with any questions or problems.
How long until I am up and running?
- There are a few factors to getting your blog launched for the public, including (but not only):
- My current job load. For the most accurate estimate, contact me before you sign-up to understand my current job timeframe. Work is completed in the order that the job is pre-paid for.
- Payment must be received in full before work starts
- Your domain (if you don’t purchase it from me) must be resolved to my servers before I can install WordPress
- You must have your graphics and layout determined. Major changes in theme and/or layout after it is completed the first time, can delay your start time, however, In many cases, you can begin blogging before I am finished customizing. Complete theme changes after original agreement *may* incur added costs on an hourly basis.
- Teaching you to edit your photos. You must know (or learn) how to properly edit your photos for viewing on the web. I suggest you master this *before* you contract for my services. I cannot teach you to edit your photos for proper viewing on the web… and you may not upload unedited photos to your site or you will negate the ‘unlimited space’ (read more about that here).
I have developed tutorials on how to edit photos in order to help you and there are many free online tutorials.
- Pain and suffering to me, including but not limited to*:
- Re-designs… I’m going to try and get it right the first time, but the 3rd (or 4th) time or ‘I’ve decided to do something entirely different’ may incur additional setup charges.
- Application specific support– I can help you with WordPress however only for the applications that I have installed for you and how I installed it. I do not troubleshoot third party plugins and services or any applications you have uploaded yourself, without incurring an additional charge.
*I have lots of stories for you that qualify as pain and suffering however, I’m sure *you* are not going to fall into this category, and I will honestly tell you if you do.
